Traditional Festivals - Duan Wu Jie

Mummy wants to start teaching me about the traditional festivals. It's not as easy as she thinks cos she learnt her festivals from my Po Po (now in heaven). Po po is a very staunch Buddhist and a typical traditional woman who never fails to offer her prayers every 1st and 15th of each lunar month, eves of impt chinese festivals and also has an altar at home where she offer daily offerings to the ancestors and the God statues.

It may seem silly and troublesome to do it. In fact most families dun have such things anymore. But when it comes to teaching little children abt festivals, Mummy felt handicapped without all these routines and physical displays.

What is left is the food. This is the only good part of the whole thing. Singaporeans love food.

Mummy chanced upon a chocolate pudding dumpling. Yes, chocolate pudding. Traditional Ba Chang should be made with rice, salted egg yolk and pork. Nowadays, all kinds of fushion ba chang flood the market to cater to children and those who dislike the traditional ones. It's a pity that the lychee and corn ones were out of stock. Otherwise I would have tasted all these flavours too.
